With so much happening every month, we thought we’d take the opportunity to highlight a couple of interesting content sales we’ve seen recently that might have slipped under the radar.
1. Brassic
One of Sky’s most successful comedies in recent years “Brassic" has been sold to Netflix in the second window in the UK with the first four seasons appearing on the service from 22-Aug-24. This is the first time a Sky UK Original has had a second window in the UK market whilst the TV Series is still airing.
As the show prepares for its Season Six premiere on Sky Max on the 26th September the show has also been renewed through to a seventh season. This will make it the joint longest running Sky Original.

2. Gangs of London
Another Sky Original, Gangs of London, is set to get the same treatment, with Seasons One and Two set to arrive on Netflix late this month , whilst the Season Three premiere date on Sky is yet to be announced.

As Studios, streamers and local operators adjust to a market looking to monetise content in more ways we will continue to watch how distributors and services carve out windows and establish new paradigms where all stakeholders are happy.
3. Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power
Two weeks before its second season premiere on Prime Video, Samsung TV Plus in partnership with the streaming service made the entire first season of Amazon Original “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” available for free on-demand and within its channel offering for all Samsung TV and Galaxy owners in US, Canada, Brazil, the UK and Germany.
This limited time offer only lasted until season two premiered on 29-Aug-24. With season three of the TV Series reportedly already some ways into development we could see a similar partnership before the new season airs.

Samsung is using the series slightly differently in each market ranging from on many different channels in the US to solely On Demand in Brazil, though the series is available On Demand in all of the markets. We’ve seen SVOD services and Free TV looking for synergies by windowing older seasons as new season premiere. This represents the first time we have seen FAST windowing SVOD originals relatively soon in a second window and as FAST matures it will be interesting to follow any similar developments in FAST utilisation.
