The Objectives

The number of cars equipped with data connectivity is increasing at a fast pace - over 90 million connected cars are expected to be shipped by 2021. This provides automotive makers with an opportunity to drive incremental revenues – create new business models, products and services.

Moreover as autonomous driving develops, a car owners’ digital relationship with their vehicle will matter more than ever – seamless integration to consumer services will be increasingly expected.

As Google and Apple move in to the car, ACCESS recognise that car manufacturers need to develop, control and own the branded video experiences with their customers.

ACCESS TWINE4Car provides the technical platform and ACCESS asked 3Vision to help them build the content proposition and negotiate the in-car rights to deliver a full white-label video service offer for car manufacturers.

How we helped

  • Content rights availability - in-car content is a new and unexplored area – we used our extensive network of key senior content executives from major distributors like the Hollywood Studios to quickly determine how this ‘right’ would be treated
  • Business Model Input – we provided key financial inputs to support ACCESS in developing their business model using our database of content
  • Proof of Concept Content – we secured a range of content from rights holders across the US and Europe to be used by major manufacturers.

The Results

ACCESS are working with major content providers – from Hollywood Studios to SVOD service providers building an entertainment platform for global car manufacturers.

They have signed deals with key rights holders and are now entering the next phase in the project which includes exciting new tests around video content.

3Vision is a great partner in such an innovative environment and have been a great help to introduce the brand new idea of connected cars as a distribution channel with their extensive global network and excellent contacts into the content industry.
