Enhanced catch-up (Stacking and Box Sets) is expected to increase in 2020 as are exclusive online releases. Data from Show Tracker shows how this catch-up exhibition is fast becoming the norm.

Industry executives believe broadcasters are now even more likely to take a post-SVOD second window. With more shows now coming back to the market we are finding numerous instances of scripted shows finding a second home on both Pay and Free TV channels.

In most instances the catch-up offer is minimal, with basic rolling 5 episodes at most. This poses a challenge when first window SVOD rights remain and viewers can seek out the original home should they choose to binge view all episodes, rather than wait patiently for the linear broadcast.
